The pieces were composed with the aim to present easy works in the classical original style instead of the usual transcriptions. They can be performed either individually or as a suite while the pace can be adapted to match the technical skills of the player. Axel Fries was a student of Siegfried Fink and Thomas Stiwe. He plays solo timpano at the Oldenburger Staatsorchester and gives lectures at the Hanover Conservatory for Music and Theatre.
